As you may have heard, there is a new security bug doing the rounds that has affected all versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer. Hackers often start by convincing users to click on fake websites. From there these bugs can allow attackers to run malicious software on the user’s computer. Microsoft is working on a fix for the problem but my advice is to stop using Internet Explorer as your browser. Download Firefox or Google’s Chrome and use either of those instead.
Mac users are not immune to Trojans and other malware. Both Mac and Windows users can help protect their computer by using programs like Malwarebytes or Dr. Web Light (app for Mac) to scan your computer and alert you to the presence of, or block incoming, malware.
If you install a malware protection program like those mentioned above it should alert you if you visit a site that is suspicious or has malware on it.
