As a website maintenance provider, I am notified automatically if a website under my care goes offline. Oftentimes I have resolved the issue and brought the website back online before the owner has even realised it was down.
This is one of the features of my website maintenance plans that I often forget to tell people about. But it’s a really useful thing to know. The reasons websites go offline are extensive but most often are one of the following:
- a plugin conflict
- a hosting server outage
- the client not paying the hosting fee
- the domain wasn’t renewed by the client
When I can catch the offline status quickly enough I can:
- Identify the cause of the conflict and update or replace the offending plugin
- Work with the hosting company to get the site back online
- Notify the client about the payment due (often they have lost track of the invoice)
- Remind the client to renew the domain before they lose it
Every minute offline costs you potential customers. If you’d like someone monitoring your website 24/7 so you don’t have to worry about downtime, let’s chat about my maintenance packages.
Have you ever discovered your website was down hours or even days after it happened?
